To slot or not to slot????

So I've been having a wee spending spree on the GTB lately and its about time I got rid of the wobley discs in the front and throw a decent set of pads in, I'm probly going with Bendix ultimates or Metal kings but I am wondering if slotted discs are a bit of overkill? I mean it will never see the surface of a race track and I only do a bit of "spirited" driving around hills ect on the weekend, slotted discs do look the part but I mean who comes up to you and says "wow nice discs" lol

Any ideas would be mint!

I wouldn't bother but I'm adverse to spending excess money on my car.

Yeah I'm never keen on spending money with no actual reward so to speak, I mean no Sti ever has come out with slotted discs and they were built for a bit of track stuff and what I do too

look up znoelli, They are well priced and do slotted rotors and matched pads for 4 pots, 2 pots, and brembos

Leon @ Znoelli is a champ, and gives a reasonable discount.

Im onto my 2nd set of pads and rotors now as i swapped brakes and was super impressed on braking ability and the price.

my 2c on experience with them and their slotted rotors.

in terms of "actual reward", mine were hammered as dailies and on the track and i never warped, glazed, cracked or ran out of brakes ever.

p.s on the flip side i know tony had some znoelli rotors and had trouble with them so its up to you.

Wouldnt get another set of slotted rotors for a street car. The noise is annoying and they kill brake pads in no time. Would spend the money on a set of good quality flat rotors and some really nice fluid/pads.

For me, the only difference between slotted and plain rotors was that my pads wore out A LOT quicker.

I couldnt feel any performance difference between the two, but surely there must be some since all of the big name race brake kits supply slotted ones???

I race on a budget though, and would rather that my $500 race pads last a bit longer than 2 meetings or things start getting REAL expensive, REAL fast!

agree - and my pads were cheeep as, approx a 1/4 the price of mintex ones. and afaik thus far they stop just as good, wear out faster but rock the party.

I will be asking you for a quick comparison (read: seat'ometer) next time im up that way fyi, be interested to know with what you think my set up feels like.

I'll go against the trend, use DBA slotted 650's (standard replacement rotors no good for track use) along with Ultimates

and they have worked fine together. Pads haven't worn any more than the OEM combo in my experience, plenty of dust though and braking performance is ok for street driving (sometimes hard) Use good quality fluid like Motul.

In my experience the slotted rotors help out a little bit, maybe that was due to the flat ones being a tad worn.. but i noticed a difference when going from one to another

I've gone to slotted and haven't looked back since, Yes pads do wear out more on them but i prefer the feel they give for both light and heavy use, Looking forward to installing some 4 pots front and s12 rotors, probably look at getting two sets of pads, daily and track use

i dimple drilled mine myself and have found them to be a little noisey but the brakes are pretty good. i have crap pads and slow down alot faster than before...

Thanks for all that fellaz! I've gone for a standard flat disc and a set of Bendix ultimates which I know are bloody great pads but they dust heaps though, with some castrol super response fluid - sposed to be pretty good. Should be humming I'd say!

Thanks again!

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
