quality of Sti branded Genome Strut btace

Recommended Posts

Strongs are somewhat funny sometimes. Some things are cheap, some are ridiculously expensive.

From my own experiments with the braces (believe me, I tried all of them on my BLE :D - out of curiosity and just because I could) I'd go with Cusco or similarly build/designed one.

Genome for $45 should still deliver though ;)

So it will have no effect

Do not expect much from it, on its own at least. I do notice the difference, rear strut brace was a much more noticeable upgrade on my old GT-B though.

A lot of people (Americans in particular, seems like all their care about is stance and more horseys) will argue that front braces are just a fetish/cosmetic mod. Most of them never installed one and just heard something somewhere.

PS: IMHO

It will increase the bling factor of your car and being genome its worth millions to most people on here. As far as handling goes its prob not going to do a lot considering its not adjustable.

That said i had an sti one fitted to my car and i dont see sense on removing it. For 45 its worth grabbing imo. Rear strut brace in a wagon makes a lot of sense.

I would like someone to tell me what the strut tower deflection is under cornering at a given lateral force, and thus what forces a strut brace is required to withstand to become useful (given that people spend big money on removing millimetres of deflection in bushings which is undoubtedly effective).

A chassis flexes a lot more than you might expect - try opening all the doors on a car then jacking it up as close to the corners as you can, then close the doors and check out the panel gap compared to normal.

If you think about the direction of the forces when you hit a bump the strut towers will try to get closer together, even if it's only by a tiny amount. A decent strut brace will resist this force to a degree - how much that degree is, I don't know - I have a feeling that it's tiny, personally.

Bit of a carry over from the old escorts that tried to clap hands with the strut tops..they are needed on the old school stuff when used in anger..Not so much with modern cars..

no triangulation most likely means not much.

I remember an old member on here saying that the BH legacy wagons and later don't need a rear bar as much as the older ones as they have a different rear suspension setup meaning there is less/little/no stress/contortion on the chassis... in the rear that is, front still a good idea...

don't know how much truth there is in that statement, just putting it out there...

Not much, I ended up putting one and never regretted. First you'd simply notice that there's much less noises coming from the back, then you go for a drive a notice how more responsive and in one piece the rear is.

(or I might just have a super sensitive butt'O'meter)

I gotta say i fitted a STI front strut brace to my BH9 and definatly felt the difference. Felt a lot better going round corners, also fitted a no name adjustable brace in the rear. That definate made a difference to how it felt

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
