I've got a weird request!

If you have a Impreza, especially if it's turbo can you please have a look at how your number plate lights are attached, and maybe take a picture.

It appears that there's a fair few types, and I need to replace mine as somehow they're rusty. Either I need to find what ones are the same as mine, or find what I can modify to fit. :'s

Mine;

I've tried all the Auckland pick a parts and they're all gone or broken, and strong for Subaru didn't have anything in that still had a rear end in one piece.

turbo no turbo gf/gc all share same rear bumper and same bumper iron.. that bracket is bolted to the bumper iron.. you would probably be best making something up if pickapart can't help or even go new from subaru

Btw if its broke anyway then i would just lop the heads of those rusty screws off and replace bulbs and glue them back on for temp fix till a decent iron shows up at pickapart.

You say that, but no, they arent all the same. Seems there at least a couple of types of bumper iron, along with some where the light units are attached to the bumper skin directly and have no bracket at all.

Strongs are happy to help me, but Id rather be able to break down exactly what models for them to look for, as I cant expect them to check every GC8 they get it.

Well i just check v3sti gf8/v5 gc8 ra/95 non turbo gf8 and all have the same iron with a bracket thats bolted to the bumper iron.. Even if there where 'slight' difference between certain models bolted or spot welded brackets who cares.. the point is they will all fit from v1-v6 gc to gf you will not be able to tell the difference unless you have mirrors glued on to your shoes lol.

Whoa. Who did I shoot down for answering correctly? I asked what styles there are after physically checking a fair few and finding different to what I had on my own car, then I got told that there was only one style, which from my own research at the time I knew not to be true. I wasnt rude, i just informed you that what you thought was incorrect.

Cheers for checking all the cars you have access to. The fact you found the plate attached with the metal bracket on a v1-v2 AND on a wagon shows there doesn't appear to be much correlation to what set up an Impreza will have. Given the large amount of cars you've found them on gives me hope that I'll manage to find one as at the time of posting I was worried that this particular set up was uncommon.

Anyway, going back to your other statement you made, no, they dont "all fit". All that I found at the 3x Auckland Pick-a-Parts, the ones that Joker and BriteLites have along with all the ones available at Strong had lugs moulded into the bumper skin, and the light cluster is attached to a grey plastic light fitting that screw to those lugs. No metal hanger used what so ever. To get that set up to work I would have to remove the bumper off my car and fabricate lugs to screw them on to, which is something a bit to over the top to be doing.

Since posting this I managed to find a copy of the parts manual online which was really useful in working this all out. Here is a diagram showing the types I've found so far.

I have also read that there may be a third "lightweight" option, which at the time I thought might be specific to STis or RAs but I cant find much more about that.

So there we go, pretty much thread solved :)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
