I have a pair of Genome mufflers on my bl5 gt. They sound good but not amazing (not ideal on equal length I guess), but drone a bit on the motorway. They also look too big, hanging down like a pair of dog's balls (they're sedan length so at least not too long). Build quality is great though. I plan to replace them at some point, so their crazy resale prices should be a bonus.

Noone in NZ buys them new, and second hand goods sell for whatever people are willing to pay for them. Are you saying they are poor quality and/ or construction; thus overvalued?

Totally imho: Genomes quality is nowhere near some other JDM brands.

Gl with anybody testing anything and posting results on here. Hardly anyone doing that sort of thing these days even on 22b and nasioc it stopped happening in 08-09. Some great info round 05-06 on nasioc.

Doubt egbp would be an issue as you shouldnt have any post turbo and a vf is pretty small. Havent seen one on anything bigger than a vf.

Im running a cheap muffler on a 3in system and egbp was 1.26:1 with big murch hybrid at 22psi so post cant have been an issue.

I have one on atm, I think it sounds pretty nice from the inside of the car ‘no idea really what it sounds like outside’ and does not drone while cruising unlike some other horrid muffler I had on for a couple weeks. I feel like they can start sounding real rude on different applications other than stock. Egbp would be an interesting fact to know also, kinda felt like replacing mine soon on the basis that it’s like a 2.2ID? “Are there larger Genomes?” and I get the feeling they are not that good for flow but really I have no idea.

i quite like mine on my BP5, nice note from the cabin, have been on a few road trips with them on and very happy with them, no drone at 100km/h.

Sounds like crap with no cat converter though, even with no cats and a resonator it still sounded too raspy, but with a hi flow cat installed rounded it out nicely.

[edit] oh and I picked up mine pretty cheap, $300 for dual exit, much cheaper than any alternative I could find, so there are bargains to have on them.

Ha yea that video, car sounds pretty neat. I rekon it would sound better at the end of a 2.4" straight pipe though
