Swapping out the sat nav - BP/BL Legacy

Raving

Recommended Posts

Hi, long time member (Previously had a BD RS for a short time), first time poster.

Recently picked up a 3.0R BP wagon fresh into the country, and ofcourse it's got the stupid Jap sat nav. Got hold of clock/trip computer, but pulling the satnav out, there's no sign of any plug for the clock?

Anyone else come across this, or got any info on what's required to retro fit? I've got the ashtray relocation and extension set-up (as I'm actually replacing the satnav with a Rasberry Pi based carPC), and looking at this post, I should be able to just tap into the Sat nav plug for most of the connections needed, but what about pins 2 and 5? I'm assuming these are the ones I'd actually need for the trip meter to work?

Help? lol

Sorry, probably not much help to you...

But I struck this when I got my 05 3.0 Legacy a couple of years ago. Got told there should be a clock plug but I couldn't find it.., even had the stereo out to try and find it.I replaced the satnav with a cubby setup and opted for the "clock only clock" out of an 06 on facelift model.

I tapped into the satnav plug to do this but can't remember how I did it now. My research at the time suggested that if I was to get the tripmeter part working I would need to pull out the cluster and tap into that for it to work?.. which I decided not to do..

I found the American site LegacyGT.com usefull at the time..

Cheers

Yeah, I've had the whole stereo and sat nav both out as I was adding an FSL-01 Aux in (take out the TV tuner, and it actually screws right onto that bracket!), but can't see a clock plug anywhere :/ I've already picked up a pre-facelift clock/trip meter for it, but did early facelift come with the same unit? If so, then guess I should be able to run just as clock if really needs be (would still REALLY like to get the trip working though).

There should be a white small square looking plug down behind the satnav, and above the stereo or behind. If not, the japanese may have used it when installing the satnav, however I have always found the clock plug when replacing the nav screens.

Any clue or more specifics on where? As the satnav was factory fitted, I'd assume the clock plug would be taped up somewhere rather than just hanging ready for use?

  • 3 weeks later...

Dont know if you sorted this but incase...

I relocated mine up top and replaced nav screen with single din headunit a while back, I have a feeling I used the same plug from bottom and just unclipped it there was plenty of meat on it to reach the top pocket? I cant recall needing to extend it.

have you looked down at bottom near the shifter for the plug?

Could well be taped up too, it'll be pretty clear once you see an unplugged white plug, of the same size as your clock plug. Can't really give a definitive location, specially if someones been behind it fitting an aftermarket unit already sorry. I know what a maze the wiring is back there with the jap units too :\

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
