silicone intakes... YES/NO? what brand should i get?

Hi people

Im pretty sold on the idea of getting a silicone intake pipe for my v7 sti as iv heard the factory one is restrictive and is prone to cracking. im after something robust (none of this collapsing drama)... At the moment im leaning towards the AVO intake, its got wire reinforcing and runs from afm to turbo. good or not? any one had experience with one of these.

If anyone can recommend any would be great... or just lend some good advice >>>>LINKS<<<<<

Im going to install a GFB g-force II EBC at the same time. apparently with intake and EBC i should see some better consistency in my boost levels and hold a higher PSI high end?? and i will get gotasuby to check the tune after installation.

Current mods for reference

- 3"tbe

- DW200 fuel pump

- gotasuby tune

Possibly, i do like the perrin stuff, seems to be good quality, ill look into the price differences. i like the avo because it replaces the afm to intake elbow, extra bang for $$$$.

Whoops! Missed that extra part. I'd say do it and let us know :D

I think they work , although I found the biggest gain was from replacing the pipe between the AFM and the under manifold section.

There are some one piece ones around , they go straight from the AFM to the turbo in one piece.

# edit , helps if i read your whole post fiirst , definately go for the AVO 1 piece.

The tomei breaks down to make fitting easier, I'm in the boat that it doesn't need changing till ya upsize ya turbo the pipe in between the afm and under pipe is more effective back to back between 2 V7 sti's mine and a mates he had bugger all gains by going with the full sillicone under pipe and me rolling with the hks intake kit with the standard plastic pipe.

He might have spooled a bit faster (not much) but we put it down to EBC's with his beingn ewer gfb g force 2 and mine being a hks evc4

There was a thread up on nasioc that had some vac pressures at turbo inlet. That combined with a ****ty filter could cause it. Jgm had a youtube vid up showing it as well cant remember what filter that had. **** news cancer got hin he was an asset to 22b.

Minaj was one of those big hks foam types iirc.

Put it this way. A V7 still isn't a cheap car. It's like $10k odd for one that isn't a pile of ****.

Having spent good money on it, don't turn it into a pile of **** by putting terrible parts on it. Anything you do to a vehicle should make it better, not worse.

A good silicon intake will make it better. A bad one will make it worse.

cheers guys. Collapsing is something that im concerned about as im running 20psi (falling to 16 at redline) on my vf30... im definitly not going to buy something cheap, think the AVO (if i can find one) or the tomei look the go at the moment. Hopefully with a good intake pipe and GFB EBC ill be able to hold that 20 all the way.... then my engine is maxxed (on safe tune...)

I dont think ill install it myself as iv heard its a damn right *****, so i think ill just pay and get a expert to install it.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
