Need a cert for bolt in cage??

I used to have one of those exact cages in my RA, however sold it once I realised it can't be certed in NZ due to the front section going around the dash (opposed to through or straight down) and the rear section due to the bars following the shape of the roof. The rear bars need to be straight down to the strut towers. You could modify it, but probably better off buying the correct spec'd cage. I know the bars are available separately, so may be able to replace a couple with them?

The cage in the auction is missing a front roof bar (its not pictured)

The cage I had bolted into my RA:

Additional bars available:

I recently bought one for my Type R and had to cut the front section off (mounts) due to dash bars. The rear half is pretty much what a sedan cage has to look like (centre cross bar may not be required)

perfect for a show car or trailer-queen

don't do it otherwise

edit : to elaborate, no good for Motorsport events, or on the street or track, they offer no safety improvements at all, infact reduce in cabin safety used alone ie without accompanying motorsport equipment such as proper harnes's and seats, heck Helmet even

Getting it legal for the road is also alot more difficult, normal certification process does not apply. You need to go through MSNZ, become a motorsportclub member etc then once you have all the documentaton + proving froma reputable builder who built the cage (prebuilt overseas ones as your trademe ones are pretty much nigh impossible to legalise in NZ as you have to prove what the metal is etc etc)..before you even get your car back on the road. I went through this whole process on my track car, however my builder was able to ensure he all the supporting photos of welds/details to send off which made life a boat load easier.

...reason for difficulty, as above without the other supporting racing equipment you will come off worse in a road crash and really the rules are designed for those that want to travel from and to events in their race car. Cages are designed to take high impact hits and be the last line of defence in a serious crash, if your head hits a bar without a helmet it is bye bye head...it hurts enough just accidently hitting your head on a bar when you get into a caged car haha.

Also makes you a massive pull me over target and if not up to spec with MSNZ licence and alike then you will get hammered with fines/get stickered.

Best bet is find a good reputable cage builder, discuss with them what you want, your goals etc and then go from there. They will recommend a design that will get through certification/MSNZ rules and will ensure you know exactly what needs to be done.

See all of this is true except for the fact that it's a bolt-in cage, which MSNZ won't cover for a homologation card because in a motorsport situation they don't really do bugger-all anyway, they are utterly compromised by the fact that they bolt together instead of being welded.

That is true, I got mixed up between bolt in and half cages....it's been a while since I went through that whole process. Gawd the amount of paperwork etc to suss out was a mission haha

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
