topmount External intercooler

Chop away the bonnet a bit (where the scoop normally is anyway), alter the piping a tad so you can have your intercooler sitting just outside of your bonnet. Anyone done this? I've been thinking about it because you don't need to cut away at your bumper you still get the benefit of short piping and the benefits of a frontmount if you angle up a bit. I've never heard of it being done before but just thinking about it it seems like a no brainer? opinions?

that's ok then. I was just thinking is all. I've already got a rotated manifold fmic setup not yet installed. The external tmic is a flop idea then, always good fun to post my ideas best way to learn haha. One of these days I'll strike gold im sure of it xD Thanks.

WoF guy would probably spew about external projections as well, if you hit a pedestrian and they got wrapped around your ETMIC I imagine it wouldn't go well.

V-Mount with low-mount turbo is the future. I'll be trying it out on my testbed ****box some time this year.

it would look like someone vomited gasket goo onto your engine

and it will still leak.

you can pull it all apart, clean everything nicely, Threebond it all back together with washers under the bolts to compress the old gasket some more and see how you go. its a bit hit and miss

otherwise, new gaskets.

Would be a heap less efficent than the stock shroud/scoop I would think. That is if Im reading what you're writing correctly. The big issue with tmic is the heatsoak.

this guy nailed it, go read up on ducting and why NASCARS or V8 super cars have small intakes for their radiators

air will take path of least resistance around the cooler rather than thru it

hence Exposed coolers suck and are only for show/look at meeeee

I suppose semi relevant to that point is the amount of top mount intercoolers you see with no shroud from the scoop

Fine when fan forced on the dyno but in real life half the airflow just goes naaaah ill scoot round the sides thanks

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
