BOV Options

Hey guys,

Im currently running a Synapse Synchronic BOV on my 98 sti coupe, just wondered what peoples thoughts were regarding the Tial Q 50mm v-band and the Turbosmart Race Port 50mm v-band BOVs?

What sort of power and or boost must you be producing in order to run a BOV of this size?

The Synapse Synchronic is a great BOV as it utilises both boost and vacuum to operate it which means you'll never have any issues with loosing pressure, in comparison to BOVs that use springs, which can leak if your not running the right size or combinations of springs.

Has anyone had any experience with the Turbosmart or Tial 50mm BOVs?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Im running a gt3082, around 28 psi on high boost producing 430kw atw. Will my current Synapse Synchronic handle the task or would it pay to change to something larger? I think the Synapse is 38mm.

Cheers for the help

Only person that can answer that is you. Do you get flutter back thro the turbo or not? Youtube dosepipe if you dont know the sound youre looking for.

Btw have you got a dyno sheet for that? What size rear housing? 2.1L iirc?

Well done must be a very good setup you got there.. tell us more!

What evowrx said, if you dont have comp surge with the Synapse then its still doing its job.

That power/boost was on my previous engine, ODB 2.0L, factory v3 heads, however, that was set as my high boost which I never really ran. Yes, I have dyno sheet I can upload. I now have a CDB 2.1L, still running v3 heads but with Kelford cams and adjustable cam gears, I haven't had this tuned yet so I'm interested to see what she will do. The Garrett GT3082R had the .63 exhaust housing complete with anti surge drilling.

cheers.

All the usual type mods, Killer B increased capacity and baffled sump, Sard 800cc injectors & FPR, Tial 44mm v-band wastegate, flipped manifold c/w FMIC, aftermarket oil cooler and power steering cooler, GFB pulley kit, Eagle Rods, Wiseco Pistons, Link G4, etc.

As I mentioned previously, this was more so just some power runs on the dyno, I didn't use this all the time. Taking into consideration the block was OD I was very hesitant on running that much power, which I didn't.

I now have a CDB for some added security I guess you could say.

I'll put up the dyno sheet when I get home.

Cheers.

How did the ODB look on disassembly and what was daily tune psi/kw atw? V3 STI heads Im guessing?

Was it Kent that tuned the original build? Keen to see the dyno sheet thats a lot of power for said turbo esp with that housing. 800cc injectors are small for that power.

Must say these 2.1/2.2 displacement jobs look like the goods.

Guess until your cars tuned you dont know how your bov is going to go. Isnt going to alter tune changing bov out after the tune tho worry about it later imo.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
