E-tuning - On a mac??

Hey all,

So with the recent purchase of my NZDM 07 B4 I am pretty keen to gut the cat/buy a downpipe and get a Stage 2 tune if I can. Given the cost of a dyno tune, it sounds like E-tuning is the way to go, and it seems like there are quite a few different tuners out there that have good reps. Problem is I have a mac and a PC is not readily available. Has anyone done an etune flash and revisions on a mac? Also, I borrowed an OBD2-USB cable from a work colleague but im not sure if this will work.. Maybe I'll need a different cable?

What are some good TMIC options to replace the factory one? Prefer to keep it as stock (looking) as possible but if a stage2 puts the TMIC at risk/gives decent gains then I guess I'll need to upgrade it.

Thanks in advance, you're all awesome :)

P.S. I tried searching LGT.com and here and the oz one but didnt get anything about macs!

I did all mine on a mac running Windows 7 through bootcamp. Romraider is java and will work on osx, and looks like ecuflash has a version for OSX here: http://www.tactrix.com/?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=36&Itemid=58

ProcessWest sell a TMIC in Australia for a little over $1k AUD: http://www.processwest.com.au/products/subaru/04-09-liberty-gt-legacy/top-mounted-intercooler

I'm running the stock TMIC and running about 1.25bar, runs fine for me, but if you want to go much higher than that probably good to go aftermarket.

The cable I have says VGA K+ CAN on the back. I have no idea if this will work with the suby… the LGT forums only mention a VAG-COM cable, although I found a thread where it said 07+ needs a different cable. So hard to tell with JDM/USDM/NZDM haha, anybody able to shed some light on this?

you could always give that cable a try. For the Vag-Com cables, it will only work if it's an FTDI chipset, may show up as FT232 driver in the OS, as kwi_fozze said the newer models use CANBUS, so if it has CANBUS the cable will be useless.

With a Mac though it might be a bit more difficult to play around with drivers, so a tactrix cable might be your only safe option, they are actually priced pretty reasonably from their website: http://www.tactrix.com/

If you can run a windows OS dual boot using boot camp you'll probably find it easier to get going, as if you run into any problems there are way more people able to help.

I know this thread is a little old but in case anyone is still interested, we're planning on coming out with a Mac compatible release of EcuFlash this year. If you send us an email to support at tactrix dot com I can put you on the beta tester list for when we're nearing release of that. The Mac version on our site now is only for older hardware.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
