Just done the same test lap with matching ambient temp. Using the new "Elcheapo" IC sprayer my TB temp is sitting at 18-19\'c. Previously it averaged 55-60\'. ;D

I\'m sorry but there is no way that anything in your engine bay is going to be 19 degrees C after a bit of boosting. When I open my bonnet after

some hard driving, the air is hot enough to burn your face off.

Previous to doing these mods I popped my bonnet and could never lean on the TB at all, today I can pop my bonnet and my TB feels cold. The engine bay still has the same hot air when I pop the bonnet although even that seems a bit less.

Edit: Also I\'m not thrashing her pants off doing my test runs, just same stretch of road boosting as much as I can legally then checking temps.

I\'m on the "yes it does get that cold" side

Go for a quick fang, get the motor hot, then stop, pop the bonnet and put your hand on the front side of the intercooler. Feels cold to the touch

After being parked for 45 seconds not so much tho

If I do a pull thro the gears on boost it can rise 6deg odd. Crusing its pretty much ambient and cooler pipe 6" north of TB is 19deg in 19deg weather hand thermometer. Intake mani is slightly warmer. All the water hoses are hot hot tho as is the engine/turbo.

Yes, but does it matter what the temps are when cruising? Surely these modifications are done for when you are thrashing the pants off the car...

in which case I would have thought everything in the engine bay will be heat soaked from very high ambient temps.

Most of that ambient engine bay heat when boosting is being cooled/blown out under the car. The engines heat soak rises the most when you stop after boosting (road works), which is when the Phenolics/TB Coolant Bypass seem to do the most. After stopping, left idling it takes so long for the TB to heat soak up to its original max temps (55\'-65 ish) that I forget I\'m waiting and start doing something else. Then I remember the cars still idling half hour later, check TB temp and it\'s only risen to 43\'. While the GTB at the road works behind me has heat soaked to well over 70\'. ;)

Edit: When the lollypop spins to \'GO\', which car will have better economy and more power?

Lower temps better economy? Dont say economy = corolla its not the right answer. :P

Personally if you\'re even slightly concerned about temps just get a FMIC.

So he cant use the extreme argument but you can?

Lollipop go is irrelevant because your obviously heading into roadworks anyway so Power isnt needed and fuel economy difference negligible at low engine speed...

Fair call, but I only used road works as an example so I didn\'t have to say \'Red light\' lol. Perhaps Start line would be more appropriate...

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
