98 sti overheat issue

hey my 98 sti has just had rocker cover gaskets front crank seal and all hoses checked and replaced so why would it overheat when i boost more than half a bar?

doesnt over heat when u dont boost?

i would start to think blowen head gasket

does thermostat open ? once car gets to operating temp on gauge is the top and bottom radiator both the same temperature?

it only over heats when i boost hard then i drive normal for a cupla mins and the temp drops back down

could be alot of things but head gasket is what pops to mind

if the car is left idling - does it overheat?

na it doesnt but it also needs a good tune as its running to rich and the idle is wierd too

take the radiator cap off and start it - give her a rev - tell me what happens LOL

it foams out of the top of the top tank when i rev it with no cap on it

:'( blown head gasket if foamin out of top of radiator or out of top tank, drain it put in clean water an try it again, best of luck but dont sound promising.:'(

foam can mean its not bled properly either - try bleeding it properly - if it keeps foaming i would say its head gasket - if u give her a big rev does it push water out ?

does it use any water ? after boosting it does it push water out the over flow? after a boost does the water in the overflow boil?

it foamed the first 2 times i reved it and they were big revs um it pushed water out when i revd it abit lower and yes it uses water had to fill it up twice last nite and was still overheating when i boosted over half a bar and after i fill it up by the time i get to my next destination its pushing water out of the overflow

yea man thats blowen head gasket

dnormally over heating them will blow the head gasket - did u cook it before all these symptoms started? blowen hose or similar

yeh she got a lil bit warm coz the water hose from top tank to turbo split and its just had rocker cover gaskets and front crank seal done

Dead HG dude.. Time for a strip down an new head gaskets...

Yep blowing a water hose and cooking it is defiantly enough to blow head gasket

New gaskets/bolts and head plain and she be good to go

Have you tested the thermostat? Even if it was a new OEM t stat they can still be faulty from factory, test it yourself, should find some specs on opening temps on google somewhere or ask your local Subaru Dealer if its not on the unit itself
