  1. I have a '99 WRX wagon. Aerial is on the drivers a-pillar. I've never had great reception on the stereo. Today I undone the aerial on the pillar and popped it out. The aerial cable wasn't attached particularly well and fell off. The cable has wiring inside, with a small plastic tube and a wire running through it. With the wiring, obviously the outside wires attach to the brass plug. Does the wire on the inside need to be attached to anything?
  2. I have 17's at the moment. However 2 reasons I want to go back to factory, 1st, Christchurch roads suck with 17's and low profile tyres, especially in the east where I live, 2nd, my wagon is NZ new and I like the wheels they came with factory. These are the current wheels: Wheels I bought:
  3. I believe for a NZ new 99 WRX the factory tyre is 205/50/16. Does it matter if I went to a 205/55/16? Or should I stick with the 205/50/16? All 4 tyres need replacing. I did try search, but my efforts were fruitless.
  4. My friend has a non STI WRX V8 wagon. It doesn't have roof rack rails, however a quick search through trademe and I see some had them factory and some didn't. He doesn't want to have to remove the monsoon cover things at the top of the windows to install generic fit roof racks. Is it possible to fit the factory roof rack rails from other Subaru wagons? Are the holes there?
  5. Stereos bound to be a bad earth somewhere. Amp? Fuel pump? Stereo?

    Alarm issues

No what I meant and I didn't make it clear, was that after I had done the work on my car the alarm started playing up. I cut the switch out as it was rusty and looked a bit dodgy but the alarm is still randomly going off. So I can safely rule that out as an option. I've also ruled out both remotes as well, the batteries and buttons are all good. I'll remove each door sensor and check them thouroughly next I think as well as the sensor on the boot. Just wondering if there is something else I need to check?

    Alarm issues

It was doing it before I took out that switch, I only took the switch out because it was all rusted up and a bit dodgy. In getting a new one today, But by cutting the switch off and not having it earthed the alarm will think the bonnet is closed regardless and should act normally.

    Alarm issues

Well I cut the wire and earthed it and the alarmed beeped like I had left something open, so I didn't earth it and it armed properly... So I don't think it's that. I'll check the boot again soon as that's where I spent my time changing the fuel pump over. Could have knocked something I guess.

    Alarm issues

So I replaced the MAF and fuel pump in my V6 GF8 WRX. Now randomly the alarm goes off. I've checked the door sensors and they seem to be fine, I've taken the battery out of the remote and that makes no difference, the boot seems fine as in you open and close and the light goes on and off. The plunger sensor thing under the bonnet was a bit rusty so I cut it out. Anyone have any ideas?
  10. Was the wiring around the right way? Might have just been mine.
  11. The only reason I changed the wiring is because the fuel pump had a specific plug it has to use, the wiring it came with had the plug for the pump at 1 end and the plug that fits into the factory plug at the other, straight plug and play... Well sort of.
  12. So my '99 wrx wagon pooped its maf, easy swap once I found some security torque keys. Then found the fuel pump stopped working. Got my mate to order a DW200 since it seemed like a good replacement. Put it in today, nice and easy with a plug and play loom. Car still wouldn't start... I could hear the fuel pump priming but no go. Pulled a spark plug and it was dry as a bone, pulled the fuel filter and there was no fuel getting to it. Decided to pull the fuel pump out again... Checked the loom that was supplied with the pump that said it was for a Subaru wrx and the damn wires were around the wrong way! Argh! Swapped them around and car fired up first time! Lesson well learnt... I should have checked before hand... Just trusted it was right.
  13. Just want to check... Changed out the dead factory pump on my '99 wrx to a dw200 unit. It's all swapped over and I used the wiring harness that came with the fuel pump. The old one has a little black box wired in. Do I need this? What is it?
  14. Thanks, found one of my best friends had a set. Turns out the fuel pump crapped itself... So got to replace that too now.
