  1. Another couple of lil things 1) Traction control light is always on. Pressing the button under the steering wheel does nothing at all. No fault code for it on the obd scanner. Any ideas where to start looking? 2) Clock and information unit under dash pocket looks dead, nothing on the display at all. Have read this is common issue but havnt read any decent fix other than replacing it for another unit? Any ideas? Cheers guys
  2. Hey guys Just picked up another BPE for a great price, but along with that came a few issues. 1) Previous owner said immobiliser had been removed as it had stopped working. Said that removing this also made the central locking stop working. Keen to reinstate these. Door locks move with drivers switch on doorcard, and security key symbol flashes on cluster but key buttons do nothing. Having a look under dash today I found the remains of at least 1 aftermarket alarm minus the main module. All a bit wierd... Anyone know where the imobiliser control unit is as figure that's a gd place to start? And the central locking unit? A wiring schematic for this system would be a godsend if someone is willing to share it! 2) Rear drivers side door is locked shut, no resistance from outer handle at all, inner handle appears like child lock is on. I've managed to get the doorcard off with the door closed, anyone know how to get the lock to release from inside the door? Any help appreciated
  3. So went to put old sensor back in as car actually seems worse with new sensor in. Just for **** and giggles I left the sensor unplugged and let the car warm up to normal temp. Did nothing unusual at all. I blipped the throttle a couple of times and it revved ok. Would have thought it would have run terribly without the o2 sensor
  4. Sure was. Wasn't a genuine subaru one tho.
  5. Right so I've replaced the sensor after the OBDII code 1130 was showing and stil havnt got rid of the CEL. I've reset the ecu but light comes on again after 30 sec of driving. Car feels very sluggish when cold now too. Grrr any ideas?
  6. So randomly as I went to check the part number on the sensor, I find that it is almost unscrewed from the exhaust. Was only held in with a couple of threads! So tightened it up, reset the ecu and no codes yet! Fingers crossed...
  7. So have done a fluid change this arvo and it seems to have sorted the problem. Not surprising being that the fluid that came out was almost black, instead of red!
  8. Hey guys. Got a CEL today and after plugging in the OBD2 reader seems my front O2 sensor is stuffed. As mine is a rev d I'm a bit lost as to which sensor I need, as some say this is a wideband one and others that it's not? Anyone have any idea? Oh and a gd place to buy these from? Thank
  9. Hey guys Lately have been getting alot of noise when setting off from being parked. Initially thought it was possibly the belt slipping, but belt is tight, and getting alot of noise from the pump area when turning - mainly at slow speed. Are these renowned for doing this? Fluid level is fine too. If so, are they easy to change out? Driving the mrs nuts!!!!!! Cheers
  10. Yeah might be the next thing to do... its wierd as weve driven it to papamoa and back from auckland 3 times now, and had no trouble other than the bombays on the way back. Seems that hill must stress the engine a bit.
  11. Hey all Car is running much better now thanks to all the help off this site. Only wee problem now is, the last two times weve come back up the Bombay hills, if you put your foot down to give it a bit more gas, she seems to stutter and hesitate. Also the temp gauge starts creeping up until we go over the top and then it goes back to normal. No overheating or stuttering other than on this same hill, and no other wierd issues at all. But would love to figure this one out. No CEL either. Car is 2003 BH5 tiptronic wagon. Anyone have any ideas???
  12. Car is in for some panel work this week so wil have the auto trans fluid and filter changed anyway as I haven't done it since owning the car. The plugs were changed around 15000km ago, and I put iridiums in. Are they likely to be stuffed by now? And do the coils fail often?
  13. Yeah had it in auto and it was having trouble deciding which gear to be in so almost feel it could have been a gbox prob possibly. But was about 3500rpm and 100 kph yup.
  14. Well just got back from the drive to Papamoa. Car ran great on the way there with Wifey driving, but had a couple of issues on the way back. Firstly the temp gauge started going up a bit as i was giving her a bit of stick up the hills. Went to just under 3/4, and then dropped down to the usual position of just under half once i backed off a bit. Then coming up the Bombays, temp gauge did the same thing again, but this time the engine started to miss and stutter a little under throttle. After that it was fine the rest of the way home. Any ideas on the temp issue or the miss/stutter?
  15. Boom we have liftoff! Primary boost sensor was rather well gunked up so gave that a good clean out. Also made sure restrict or pill was in primary turbo - wastegate line. Cleaned out hoses 10 and 23 too plus replaced a couple that looked like they had small splits. Now she is boosting around 14 psi on primary and 16 psi on secondary. Off to check out the progress on our house in papamoa tomorrow so will give her a decent run over there. Stoked!
