  1. I will check out engine rebuilders in Christchurch. I may also check out a EJ repower option although this is not the preferred option as the car is a NZ new car which makes it even rarer than the RX coupe already is.
  2. I am currently looking for options for a EA82T engine for my Omega RX coupe. The old motor had developed a miss and a compression test has revelled that cylinder No.4 has no compression and the other 3 cylinders are between 100 and 120 psi. They should be above 140psi. The engine has done 300,000km so to be expected I suppose. The garage has given me an estimate to rebuild the motor of around $5-$6k which I suspect is a little high. I did see that there is currently a EA82T engine for sale on trade me but really want to try and pick up a motor in the south island if I can to minimise freight. I am just looking to getting the car tidied up to sell.
  3. 06 3.0R outback 111,000KM 88 Omega RX Coupe 300,000KM and as far as I can tell original motor.
  4. IS there any drive when you put the car into drive? Did it lock up one rear wheel or both? Have you checked the rear axles. I once have a front CV have a catastrophic failure which resulted in no drive.
  5. Got married back in 2004 and used WRXER and X37637 cars. Yes WRXER brought the red car from Jason and still has the car but it is a track car now.
  6. I joined the club back in 98. Have seen various incarnations of the forums over the years. below a few photo's from over the years. Many good friends. This was a grasskhana somewhere near Te Awamutu around 2001. Another Grasskhana though I think this is earlier. Around 1999. Between Paeroa and Thames. Rally New Zealand 2001 at Raglan. Baby in this photo is now almost 15. Lewis Pass around 2005 I think.
  7. I got my whisperbars from these guys. alot cheaper than supercheap etc. http://roofrack.co.nz/
  8. . http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/subaru/auction-965849682.htm who wants a Subaru 360 project.
  9. Car: 2006 3.0R Outback Suspension: Standard Mags: No sure Japanese brand wheels diamater: 18 Wheels width: 8 Offset: Unsure Tyres spec: Rotella 225/45/R18 did you have to roll the gaurds?: No
  10. I could consider the possibility of maybe parting with my NZ new 87 Omega RX Coupe for the right money. It is currently parked with rego on hold. I don't have any current photo's but the link below gives an idea. http://clubsub.org.nz/forum/showthread.php?7265-RXII-coupe-restoration Garrick
  11. 87 Omega Rx coupe 68 Mustang 06 Outback 3.0R 08 Corolla 11 Hilux (work truck) I won't count the Leone station wagon that has been stripped.
  12. The outback 3.0R is also rated at 1800kg braked so no difference there. I have noted that the 3.0 can be a heavy drinker when towing (13L/100km).
  13. I'd say 3.0R outback. But I'd be bias as this is what I currently have. I did look at the 2007 Forester at the time but they were quite a bit smaller in the luggage department than the Outback. I would think they would both be quite capable off road but the forester being shorter may have a slight advantage.
  14. Make sure you get some change of ownership papers as you don't want to be paying someone else's speeding and parking fines and also if they don't re-register the car then you become liable for the outstanding registration when they do register again. Also make sure your insurance covers you for other drivers particularly those under 25. G
  15. I think the mirror retract button is above the electric window controls in the door.
