  1. So still have a low rough idle and stalls whenever I come to a stop after driving. Still purrs under load but doesn’t hold idle and is rough and shaky.... I unplugged the O2 while it was holding the low shaky idle and it didn’t change or get worse but just showed CEL. Is this a sign it could be the front o2 at top of down pipe ?? or potentially MAF? I done new sparks. Cleaned throttle body and checked for leaks. Anyone know anywhere suitable and reasonable in Auckland mechanic wise? Getting over the embarrassment of stalling 15 times trying to park because it dies as soon as goes into gear.
  2. sweet as just took of intercooler and about to get into it. She doesn’t really then freely? Haven’t been putting to much movement as I read it’s electronic and could bugger it. Ganna give a clean and update
  3. Kia Ora Looking for abit more of an experienced input on a problem I’m trying to diagnose in my 03 Legacy. I have an 03 GT wagon with an EJ20X 2.0L Single Turbo with a auto transmission. Just done a recent general service as gaining ownership recently. Including all new sparks from OEM Partsouq. Looked for boost leaks and took off intercooler and found nothing strange. Car runs smooth under load, boosts beautifully, no hesitation or anything. But when coming to a stop after driving it’ll almost instantly stall 7/10 times. Then after restarting it’ll keep dying. It’ll start go to about 800rpm and then die down slowly and stall until I put load on. Will also die instantly in reverse. No CEL or anything. Also when idling the chassis shakes with the motor abit. Possibly engine mounts ? Neither less it doesn’t explain the stalling with is the most frustrating. I done the full idle re-learn process suggested after doing the sparks and all. She runs mint. No overheating. Just yeah doesn’t like an idle at all. Would love any suggestions or tips if someone’s had similar troubles? If she gets too much of a ballache might take her in.
  4. Hey bud! Yeah been driving it in full open.. still symptoms persist come and go with it but am doing it to be easier on the system anyways. I approached my local dealer and they said they have no interest or confidence in tackling high performance Subarus and weren't too happy to take it.. plus their labor rates start at 105$/phr +GST i think last i talked? Don't have a direct Subaru dealership here just a motorgroup which sells a couple.. .Have been in touch with S.A.S in ChCh and am going to transport it their way down from Queenstown if all comes to halt and still am left head scratching after weeekend.. just trying to do as much as i can myself and shine some light to make it easier for anyone/everyone who will get involved in sorted this. Yeah no ABS light so maybe i'm SOL on that idea.. i will try however do it anyways so can cross that off the list.
  5. * SEEKING INSIGHT/KNOWLEDGE ** So as of a couply weeks ago or so my Version 9 STI decided to take a nice steamy S*** on me and do what it does best and start to fault and run me up the wall with possibilities on what's actually wrong ... So I'm having some issues with my DCCD/ABS system ( I think? ) - my symptoms are that car just started off with slight clunking in rear on take off ... turning to straight up binding/shuddering from the rear when taking off in low gears/turning ( was quite noticeable st this point ) ... turning into what feels like my car is towing a trailer in the rear... ( all in AUTO DCCD setting ) Just came back from slight fault finding mission... car was not binding - well not that I could notice in low gears on full lock.. both in AUTO and Manual mode all the way down. But though when traveling straight the car just felt unpleasant to drive in rear... no noises but felt like something was holding it back... felt like towing a trailer or something clamping down on it. I have noticed also recently my brake pedal has got super hard.. I have no whining at all and problem is intermittent. I'm assuming my DCCD controller is working as should as o can select the manual modes and feel the difference in drivetrain.. but same problem persists. Now I'm sure it'll bind and clunk again but it comes and goes. Am leaning towards possibly ABS fault? Have read that the DCCD system runs off the abs sensors in the hubs. So am going to rip of all ABS sensors and clean them and check the Ohms with a multimeter to assure they're working fine and fingers crossed... will also bleeding brakes this weekend as the pedal is quite hard.. But for the meanwhile does anyone have any suggestions or ideas what it could be? Definitely feel it all in rear and something to do with DCCD/ABS. Anyone had experience or can shine light? Would appreciate! Cheers
  6. Can i please bump this back up as i genuinely am interested now ( check first post )
  7. Completely forgot about them!! Just sent them a message now ! Thats awesome Cheers
  8. Scrap the previous post - (EDIT) Although i'm genuinely interested in now if V8 and V9 JDM ECU's are interchangeable? If i was to throw a Version 8 ECU in my Version 9 would it work flawlessly or would it cause some errors? For example if i bought a pre-tuned V8 STI for same supporting mods/ stock for example - would it work fine or? Need knowledge pls help. Thanks!
  9. Noisy even in third now ((((( could it be engine noise as opposed to gearbox? Gearbox is smooth as, hard to tell where noise coming from because so loud. Only above 60 KM an hour and accelerating
  10. Hey guys, Yet again seeking help from the experienced and knowledge guys here as it's driving me crazy and want to try decipher prior to taking to the mechanics and splashing out - especially here in Queenstown they'll end up charging me 400$ alone for opening the door.. Anyways my MY00 V6 STI - Fully stock, just started making some odd noises as of the last couple days.. seems to almost be getting worse, but could just be mean. Anyways i uploaded the video -: [video=youtube_share;j4xAEG4TWWU] You can hear it really clearly and distinctively throughout about half way through that video. This ONLY happens whenever i am in 4th & 5th gear.. under load also, also only about 60KM till about 90KM.. Doesn't happen in any other gear at all despite the speed, also if im cruising under 50KM in fourth or fifth its still not noticeable.. Although whenever i am in 4th and 5th and put my foot on accelerator that noise can be heard very loudly.. sounds like its almost back of the engine/gearbox/diff.. but no noises occur when just rolling - even in gear if no acceleration there is no noise. I just did a full oil change yesterday to the whole car, Engine, Rear Diff, Center diff/gearbox - using all Pentrite products - proper specifications too for the car. Didn't seem to make a change though. Will take it into mechanics regardless i think to get it sorted.. but want to kind of have some idea what it could be prior to them saying i need 100 new things.. Any advice appreciated! Cheers Guys.
  11. Sweet as cheers guys! My STI is fully stock so assuming it'll have the Viscous LSD? So run LSD diff oil 80W-90? Then 75W-90 Rated GL-5 gearoil for the trans and center diff? Is there any specifics as to mineral or synthetic with these oils? Which one the STi's prefer? First time ever dealing with oils and fluids at this part of the car, wasn't tempted to pay someone at all so might as well try it out myself and learn. Also for plugs would NGK-SPO929111 Platinum be a good choice? Only got a Repco here in Queenstown but got a Trade account. Just planning on doing full tune up today as i doubt anything been changed since 2011
  12. So been looking around the internet for a while and can't seem to find the FSM or fluid recommendations from anyone, not sure if i just haven't looked hard enough but whenever it comes to STI's its all 2004+ and its UDSM specs. If i do find the 99-00 GC8 FSM its just for the WRX if i'm correct.. im not sure how much the fluids vary between that and the STI. Thought il'd reach out here for help see if anyone can shed some light. I got a 2000 GC8 V6 WRX STI - 5 Speed, im planning to do a full service through all the fluids as it could use one i am assuming, so planning on doing rear diff, gearbox-center diff ( these share the same oil if I've read correctly? could be wrong ). Just wondering my oils i should run? I live down south so it gets cold here in winter, but seeing if anyone here could please give me some valid information on what to run in it? I've just read the 75W-90 for the gearbox and center diff? Assuming they share the same oil.. but yet again better safe than sorry.. as for rear diff, found nothing yet. PLSSS Thanks
  13. Slow road but getting there , need to get some side splitters, new wheels are in progress ( these ones are ****ing ugly :( ) and a foglight cover and then a potential respray ( plastidip ) and minor panel work, then she'll be ideal
