I have seen a few cars in japan that use rivets in place of weld bead, as a form of chassis seam stiffening.. perhaps a sparing application of light gauge rivets along the seams would be the answer? they should pop out in the event of a crash, avoiding major damage?

you sound like you plan on crashing? as a guy who drives a bumper to bumper crumple zone with wheels attached, a very terrifying prospect that would be.
  3. I ain't venturing out into my hood lookin dis whack! they're on 25mm adapters because they have the stupid stud pattern. plan is to mill a 4x100 pcd into the rim and go from there.
  4. well I havent done it quite yet, but hopefully these low offset 13x7's will fit under the gaurds...
  5. excellent, test fitting of the modgies shall commence today, everything else is installed... the front of my car is definitely less than 100mm from the ground, great success!
  6. hey hoping someone knowledgeable can help with this: so I built some sweet adjustable struts for the Ace and my question is this, If I run low offset 13x7's with the stretched tyres, maximum negative camber, and maximum low, will this truly mean that: 1) I will drift like Takumi? 2) Girls will suddenly find themselves becoming a hot mess upon sighting the ace? 3) Police and government agencies will treat me like a foreign ambassador with full diplomatic immunity? 4) I will finally have the coveted yolo-swag?

  8. the roof leaks enough as is..
  9. yeah about that seat.... new seat rails will be happening.. its quite a job to do however, lots of custom fabrication.. but will lower the seat(s) about 6 inches
  10. so no updates for ages, finally some metionable progress has been made. first up, Coilover suspension: Camber adjustable and spring perch adjustable. these were built from scratch at minimal cost -body is a shortened (sectioned) Toyota Carina item -cartridge is a Suzuki Carry item, shortened 20mm -Top Hats/Camber Plates: I drew a template and local water-cutters took over from there. -Spring platform system from Kayne Barrie Motorsport -Pillow ball mounts courtesy of Funkytown's old BC Red's from his GC -Springs also from Funkytown's GC -Welding by Quest Fabrication. p.s does anyone know what the spring rates might be for the original BC Red/V1 coilovers of the GC fitment. Next up, Roll Bar/ Half Cage: -base plate fabrication by me -body panelbeating by me -panel prep, me again -cage bending and welding by Quest Fabrication
  11. hey neal, you're spoilt for choice on the HBC. I personally recommend Rod Harman Motors in silverdale, he's a real standup dude, one of them Good ol' boys. small workshop, its just rod and his apprentice. I live and work in this area, happy to lend a hand whenever.
  12. fixed some leaks around the windscreen and welded a few seams on the A-pillars and front footwell sills.. bloody hard work on a thin little kei car, had to link lots of spot welds to get a bead without burning holes in the thin panels. also crappy 10 year old Ryobi MIG doesn't help
  13. crap.. bad news for me and my frankenstein build...
