  1. 240kw is for the Crawfored Engineering modified Sti from the UK, it's the one in the 5th gear video. Think it's supposed to be about 195kw stock.
  2. Just one comment on the Mcintosh, it's not the end of the world if you want to upgrade it. I did mine, just takes a bit of patience and the ability to solder rca jacks onto the existing wires. However if you plan on upgrading the amp/speakers/sub anyway then you're best off with the kenwood.
  3. When I did mine, just sprayed all the nuts with penetrating oil and left them for 30mins prior to undoing them, after that they all undid with ease.
  4. Usually not that cheap, but if you can scrounge the parts for a defi setup I'd recommend that. I put one in mine nearly 2 years ago and it's been the most trouble free gauge i've installed, so nice not having to route vac hoses into the cabin.
  5. more luck finding a legacy with 3.0 manual, if you chuck some Outback struts in that should give you the same lift as an outback if that's what you're after.
  6. I'm guessing that cutoff is intended to be for V6->V7, but because they've gone for model year they've completely f'd it up, I was worried I'd see the same thing on my 2003 legacy but seems the 3rd gens are rated higher anyway so no probs there.

  8. Probably wouldn't hurt to have your shocks regreased if you can't find the problem, I did mine a while back and fixed some of the noises I was getting.
  9. nah not yet, I was hoping to make the last local dyno day but unfortunately other things intervened on the day. I guess you just have to do your research, I got mine done when infamous/shamar did a disappearing act, so it's possible to have a bad experience, but after flicking my first email through to Cryo I was pretty confident in getting a good service, and the good reviews speak for themselves.
  10. I've had my legacy tuned by a tuner from the states, and am consistently very happy with the result. The tuner (Cryotune) also provides road tunes and dyno tunes to locals in Colorado, so not just some hack on a forum. The process I went through to get mine tuned was completely transparent, the tune files can very easily be loaded into RomRaider and diffs of the changes made are very visible, not to mention my tuner explained all the changes he made between each revision. We started with a base tune and from then until the 2nd to last revision there was no feedback knock correction or learned knock correction at all from the logs to redline I was doing. Once we hit some knock, things were dialed back a bit, and now, almost 2 years on, my learned knock correction tables haven't had a single cell filled. the drivability was massively improved, as well as power across the range. Sure hooking up a wideband and getting the AFR's tuned properly would improve things, but I don't want my car running on the ragged edge, and the power I've got is more than enough for me. That's just my experience, but from the sounds of it, it's a similar experience that can be had with other reputable tuners around the place. It's also not hard to find reviews from those with dyno tunes who've been retuned by some of these e-tuners and been far happier with the results for what it's worth.
  11. i quite like mine on my BP5, nice note from the cabin, have been on a few road trips with them on and very happy with them, no drone at 100km/h. Sounds like crap with no cat converter though, even with no cats and a resonator it still sounded too raspy, but with a hi flow cat installed rounded it out nicely. [edit] oh and I picked up mine pretty cheap, $300 for dual exit, much cheaper than any alternative I could find, so there are bargains to have on them.
  12. are those prices on beforward converted to NZD? We're looking at getting a RAV4 for the missus, but can't find the colour we want locally, so might be a good option.
  13. only 2008+ for NZDM, 2006-2008 were still EJ20 with a different turbo, and Japan never had the EJ255 in 4th gens.
  14. Should have 195kw (265hp) stock. It has a VF41 which is a very small turbo, and along with the 2.5L engine spools very quickly.
