  1. Sarcasm Boon? How do you do a virtual dyno anyway? I thought downhills were just used for '0-100' claims?
  2. Thanks for all the info guys - really helpful! What other track days are these in North Island NZ?
  3. I bought the car as is sorry mate, so couldn't tell you what sort of difference the pipe made (unless you compare the entire car and set up to my previous WRX....in which case i'd say IT'S ANOTHER LEVEL!) Yeah i've heard Raijin is the one to see - might hold out and see what I can tee up
  4. Hi Guys, So i'm wanting to take the Rex for a few track days this year if possible. I know Hampton Downs runs some, but what other good tracks around Auckland, or within a few hour drive, are there that run public track days? I see that Taupo does some as well - i've been told this is quite a good track? As for the car, i've got an oil baffle going in as well as braided brake lines - so should be a good start out (it's a WRX STI Type RA) with the new rubber I just fitted. Anything else people would suggest? What about safety equipment? Am I better off to just rent the stuff there for the first few times, or actually get myself a helmet and overalls?
  5. Hi everyone, So i've finally got all my bits and pieces ready to get mounted (Bilstein adjusties, RCM oil baffle and braided brake lines). I've made the decision NOT to 'race-ready' my car anymore, but rather use this for the next 12 or so months to do some track days and hopefully the Targa Tour, then i'll look at buying an already race ready car to go further. However, now that i've decided to go down this route, i'm thinking of putting bigger injectors in and getting it a decent tune (for a little extra power). It's last dyno was about 218wkw on about 18 PSI with a 16 PSI option through the boost controller. The current set up includes: 2001 WRX STI Type RA - Simota Air intake - TDO5-20G with billet compressor wheel - Grimm speed manifold cross pipe - 3" turbo back - Aluminium radiator - Walbro 255 fuel pump - Greddy electronic boost controller I do have an external wastegate as well, but it hasn't been fitted (not really necessary at the moment). Basically my question is - what injectors (size, brand, etc) would you guys suggest? And who would you suggest for the tuning? (also any suggestions on the LVV would be good too - I'm in Auckland) Thanks
  6. Hey guys, so thinking more into this - are the 'newer' STI wheels with airbag much smaller than the 2001 WRX Momo steering wheels? Would this be a simple swap?
  7. Well I just fitted my new 17's with some nice rubber (selling the 19's with their licorice tyres) - now im just waiting on my new brake lines to arrive and then it'll be..... Fit Bilstein Adjustable, RCM Oil Baffle and Goodridge Braided Brake Lines - and she's ready to rock the Targa Tour (hopefully May edition)
  8. Hi guys, So I've got my new Bilstein adjustable suspension ready to go onto my 01 WRX Sti Type RA. Rather than getting my mechanic to fit it, I was hoping to do this myself - I'm fairly handy on the tools and have a good workshop set up (tools, jack stands, etc). I need to use my current top hats, which I've been told by Suspension Direct (where I got the suspension) will work fine. Is this a simple bolt off, bolt on process? Do I need to 'compress' anything (I.e. springs)? Any tips and advice from people that've done this?
  9. Haha wouldn't call them Tree trunks Mark, although I am a mad keen mountain biker/cyclist..... I'm just tall. The main reason I would remove it is A) I find the stock steering wheel really big B) to avoid a small accident in an event (i.e. Targa) setting off an airbag, and essentially ruining my day (yes i'd be wearing a helmet and all other necessary safety gear) This is for my race car - not a road car. I'm all for airbags in my road car.
  10. Hi guys, So i'd like to remove my STI Momo steering wheel with Airbag, and put in a more race orientated one (plus a bit smaller one so my legs don't rub on it). Firstly, is this something I need to get certified? (I need to get my suspension done anyway, so can do at same time) Secondly, can I remove it and straight bolt on a new one or do I need to get some sort of 'boss kit' that I keep seeing advertised? Any help would be greatly appreciated
  11. Have a mate in Tauranga with this same car (in black) he absolutely loves it - pulls hard, very practical (size wise) and looks the part.
  12. Engine spec run down? 300 at the wheels is impressive! And that pull looks intense!
  13. Hey guys, Thought it'd be cool to see what is happening under everyone's Legacy bonnets. There are some cool DIY jobs running around and this is a great chance to show off what you're running! Big turbos, Big intakes, crazy set ups, THE WORKS! SHOW US WHAT YOU'VE GOT!

    Air intake

Is there anything similar to the Process West CAI for the Forester XT (http://www.processwest.com.au/index.php/products/subaru/04-07-forester-xt/cold-air-intake) that will work on a 2000 Legacy Twin Turbo GT? It worked extremely well on my Forester XT (till I drowned it in a puddle...but that was just me being a tool) - had awesome induction noise!
