  1. I considered doing that but I wanted to keep that cubby free to keep my wallet etc. If I started over I would probably try keep half the vent functional but I am happy with the position.
  2. Thanks mate, I'm happy with it. The finish does look factory. The color matches almost perfect and I think the textured finish looks great.
  3. I should have mentioned I own the company but I would be happy if somebody modified it for me!
  4. Finished making a gauge mount for my '04 BP5 Legacy: http://clubsub.org.nz/forum/showthread.php?45256-Custom-BP-BL-Gauge-Pod
  5. So I have had my BP5 company car about 6 months and have started to get the urge to start modding it but as I have quickly found there is not much available in the aftermarket and what you can get is expensive! So this gives me a chance to do some DIY. I have been wanting to install a boost gauge but hate pillar mounts and pods with a passion so looked for another option. Luckily I had a damaged center piece in stock that had damaged drivers vent so yesterday I decided to hack it up and have a play. First step I cut a alloy plate to fit in the vent hole: I forgot to take a picture but I then fiberglass over that to make it strong and smoothed it with filler: The angle of the gauge wasnt quite right so I shaped it to make it sit at a better angle: Test fitted to make sure it fit and was at the right angle: One I was happy with all that I sprayed it with a textured matt grey paint: Re-assmebled: And finally finished and fitted: Pretty happy with how it turned out considering it only took a couple hours and its a million times better than a piller or dash pod. I plan to put a smoked slimline gauge in to make it a little tidier and less bold. Now I have to decide what to mod next!
  6. Yea, They made a mess of it alright! But luckily the car is structurally fine and I have already replaced the damaged panels with stuff that was in stock so outside its immaculate. I will be putting it all back together using a crashed donor car and it will be going back on the road and be better than ever. No point sending a nice car to the scrap yard to be turned into a fridge!
  7. Being an auto dismantler I often buy stolen/recovered cars from insurance companies and it gives you a good idea of how dumb some of these guys really are when you go through them. For example I had a stolen/recovered Legacy arrive yesterday. The car was stolen and stripped. They just tore out motor and box causing a lot of damage in the engine bay. They unbolted the bonnet and just threw it on the ground. They obviously didnt realize it was a sought after alloy bonnet worth $250 minimum! They thought they where really smart and removed chassis tags, vin etc to hide they cars identity but left the rego slip on the windscreen with the plate number written in bold! They ripped the dash apart to get stereo etc as youd expect and then for some reason they went around and cut all the seatbelts? There is some real idiots out there without a clue what they are doing but it dosnt matter how dumb they are, even if the cars are found and the thieves are caught the cops dont do a damn thing and these thugs walk free to do it again to somebody else\'s car. It wouldnt be hard to to connect the thieves with this certain Legacy as the left greasy fingerprints all through the interior! And no, there has been no arrests for the starlet and the police arnt interested even though the theives are known...
  8. Hey guys, Ive got a mate with a 1999 Forester Turbo that has damaged valves. My question is will the heads off a \'98 twin turbo legacy bolt straight on? We would use the heads, valves etc from the twin turbo and then re-use the cams from the forrester. I have been told previously that twin turbo legacy heads are the best flowing for WRX engines so I\'m guessing it should work but want to know for sure.
  9. STOLEN from Moutere (Nelson) Saturday night - Craig Watson\'s white Toyota Starlet rally car, rego JQ5753. This car has a lot more than money value to him as it belonged to his late brother so we need to get it back. Please spread the word and any sightings or info please contact myself or police. The car was last reported seen just south of Reefton heading towards Christchurch at around 4pm Sunday - It was being driven, NOT on a trailer. SO everyone PLEASE keep your eyes and ears open especially in Christchurch. Heres a picture of the car:
  10. The WRX Running gear is out of a 1996 GF8 Wagon and the ECU is 4 plug.
  11. Hey Guys, Iv got a customer that wants to do a WRX Conversion on his 1991 Legacy GT Wagon. I have tried searching the web but have been unable to find a build thread or anything that tell exactly what needs changing. He wants to put a 1996 WRX Engine & Gearbox in it. I know it will physicly bolt in and the axles should all fit. But theres a few things im unsure of.. The wiring loom will obviously need changing but to what extent? Changing the whole loom means the dash wont work so can you just change the ecu > engine part? Also I had read that the front subframe needs changing to clear the exhaust, is this true? And things like the main drive shaft etc, will they still fit? If anybody has any info on this conversion id love to know or any links to other threads. Just wanting to know everything thats involved in a conversion before he goes ahead. Thanks
  12. Great! That makes it easy then ;D Thanks for the help evowrx & Wiretap
  13. Really? So would the V5 engine go straight in then? just maybe use the V5 ECU?
  14. The car is a 1999, Model no. SF5, Engine type - EJ205DWZKE. Does that help?
